Why Activism?
When I was still a young activist, a senior comrade once wrote to me that “people tend to see activists as stone-hearted tasks-oriented bitches and bastards. It’s not that they have forgotten how to feel but in fact, they feel more than others do. That’s why they’re activists in the first place.”
Those words stuck to me as I was growing up to be the activist that I am today.
Many still see activism as a waste of time. Many will argue against its relevance. But, I remain proud that my activism shaped the woman I have become.
Che Guevara said it best.
“At the risk of seeming ridiculous, let me say that the true revolutionary is guided by a great feeling of love.”
I am an activist because I love.
